The Venomous Abyss is an 8-boss raid dungeon in World of Warcraft: Midnight, introduced in Patch 12.1 as part of the Curse of Ula'tek content update. The raid serves as the focal point for Midnight Season 2, following the awakening of Ula'tek, an ancient force of serpentine corruption and hatred.
Table of contents Location & Entry Points Boss Encounters Loot & Tier 36 Tokens Important Notes Location & Entry Points The raid is situated on The Coiled Isle, deep within the Vaults of Atal'Utek. You can enter the vaults through three distinct gates. The Venomous Abyss Raid Entrance: Gate of the Serpent Eye: Gate of the Eastern Fang: Gate of the Western Fang:
Boss Encounters The raid features a gauntlet of 8 bosses, scaling across Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Story Mode difficulties: Nek'zali the Soulcoiler: A shadow hunter resurrected by Ula'tek's power who calls upon fellow soulcoilers from their tombs. Entombed Sentinels: Ancient golems ("The Blood" and "The Breath of Ula'tek") that guard the inner sanctum. The Lost Explorers: A band of possessed Tortollans who use elemental frost and fire combinations to attack. Vashnik the Malignant: Lurks within the Chamber of Virulence, distilling toxic venoms to empower its brood. Sszorak: A brutal creature warped by toxic venom that controls destructive, howling winds The Twin Fangs (Vexhul & Ithraz): Two massive serpents brooding beneath a sea of venom that require balanced damage and venom-stack management. The Coiled Altar: Features a battle against Zul'jan, who is possessed by the spirit of Malacrass. Ula'tek: The final boss of the instance. In her final phase, she forces the raid to handle a "game of keepaway" with eggs to prevent them from hatching into powerful creatures. Because this raid just launched with Patch 12.1, organizing a run is an endgame, high-coordinated undertaking During the current Midnight Season 2 tier, each Mythic Ula'tek kill drops exactly 3 guaranteed mounts for the raid group to distribute. Once the next expansion (The Last Titan) releases, this drop rate will plummet to 1% Mythic difficulty restricts you to a strict, non-cross-server roster of 20 players from your own realm group (until Hall of Fame fills up). Gear Threshold: Your team should be aggressively farming Heroic Venomous Abyss and Mythic+ dungeons to average an item level of roughly 305–315 before tackling the back half of the Mythic raid. Mandatory Classes: Ensure you have strong class utility, such as Priests for mass dispel, Paladins for blessings, and high-mobility classes to manage late-fight mechanics. For a Mythic run in The Venomous Abyss, the absolute premier tank pair for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1) is Blood Death Knight + Protection Warrior. Alternative Option - If your guild doesn't have this exact lineup, you can easily slot in a Protection Paladin or a Guardian Druid. Paladins bring incredible group utility and off-healing, while Druids offer a highly stable, high-health profile that is very easy for your healers to predict. Loot Distribution Rules (Master Loot) Since 3 mounts drop per clear, decide on your group's looting rules before the first pull to prevent guild drama. Guild Static / Progression Group: It is standard to award the first mounts to the Raid Leader, Main Tanks, or the highest-performing/most consistent raiders to keep morale high for subsequent weekly re-clears. Master Loot Council: Ensure your loot master is clearly designated so the item doesn't accidentally get assigned to the wrong player.
